A Partnership between
Langebaan is fast becoming one of the top wingfoiling spots on the planet. The lagoon offers the same strong winds as Cape Town, but with more consistency—making it a flat-water playground for wingers.
Expect a wide range of conditions: winds regularly above 12 knots, most days in the 15–20 knot range, and plenty of afternoons pushing 25–30 knots. The variety doesn’t stop with the wind. On lighter days, you’ll find pristine flat-water stretches, while stronger winds and tides create rolling lumps—perfect for practicing glides, carves, and linked turns.
With 24 km of lagoon to explore, there’s always a new area to discover and fresh sessions to enjoy.
Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced rider, Langebaan is the perfect place to progress your wingfoiling—and I’d love to be the coach to help you take your riding to the next level.

Beginners
Who
I don’t teach complete beginners in wingfoiling. By “beginner,” I mean anyone who isn’t yet able to foil and consistently hold ground upwind.
If you’re looking to learn the basics of wingfoiling—whether you’re coming from kiting, windsurfing, surfing, SUP, or have no watersports background at all—my colleagues at High Palms can get you started.
You can book your beginner course directly through their website:

Filming your mistakes
Video Review and Analysis (15–20 minutes)
We’ll review the footage together so you can clearly see your mistakes—a crucial step in correcting them. Using split-screen comparisons with examples from the Progression Coaching Library, you’ll get a clear picture of the right technique.
If you can’t review the footage in person, I can create a short analysis video for you to download and watch in your own time.
Morning Briefing
Each morning we’ll meet for a full briefing and to review footage from the previous day.
Across the clinic we’ll cover all the core tricks, giving you a deeper understanding of how they work. It’s also the perfect time to go through all your questions about wingfoiling—technique, equipment, or anything else.

Rob Claisse / Wingfoil Coach
Why am I coaching in Langebaan?
Because it’s my favorite foiling spot in the world! Flat water and reliable wind almost every day make Langebaan the perfect place to progress your wingfoiling.
I’ve been coming to South Africa for 20 years and living in Langebaan for the last 6. I never get bored of foiling here—every year I return to the UK having made a big leap forward in my riding, and now I can help you do the same.
Why trust me to coach you?
I’ve been kiteboarding for over 25 years, kitefoiling for 8, wingfoiling for 4, and teaching wind sports in one form or another for nearly 20 years. I created the Progression series of instructional DVDs, app, and streaming service, which have helped over 200,000 people learn and improve their kiteboarding, kitesurfing, and kitefoiling.
In recent years, alongside coaching partner Danny Morrice, I’ve run leading kitefoiling camps around the world—and now wingfoiling too. I also co-authored the British Kitesports Association’s kitefoiling syllabus and more recently became the RYA British Youth Sailing Pathway Coach for Kitefoil, training the youth squad on their journey to the Olympics.
I love foiling, I love figuring out how to teach it, and ultimately I want to ensure everyone gets the most out of their time on the water.
